Panel Discussion: Film collectives in Southeast Asia: case studies from Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand

A panel to further conversations upon Southeast Asian moving image environments with the conversationi constructed upon three actively distinct collectives in the region.

Los Otros is a Manila-based film and video studio & platform dedicated to supporting film and video, founded by two acclaimed-Filipino filmmakers and artists - John Torres and Shireen Seno.

Forum Lenteng from Jakarta was established by artists researchers and cultural observers to discuss and develop knowledge on social issues through art and media, the Forum also initiated ARKIPEL – Jakarta International Documentary and Experimental Film Festival.

Lastly, Rolling Wild, a Thai collective specialises in processing and developing works from celluloid materials.

The three collectives shared their ideas through the Panel Discussion: Film collectives in Southeast Asia: case studies from Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand, as well as their screening programmes.

ABOUT CHIANG RAI MOVING IMAGE SALON

Chiang Rai Moving Image Salon is a platform for exchanging conversations and presenting moving image
works from filmmakers and artists, as well as collectives in Southeast Asia. The participants invited in the Salon actively recognise art aesthetics while profoundly addressing social and human issues in the region.

Chiang Rai Moving Image Salon is organised by Common Move, programmed by Pathompong Manakitsomboon, in partnership with Rolling Wild, Los Otros, Forum Lenteng, Nguyễn Trinh Thi and Fongseree Studio and with the support of CINEMA FOR ALL.
