Mary Kunuk, Aqtuqsi (The Nightmare) (1996), Canada
“I decided to put my aqtuqsi [nightmare] in a video. It’s so interesting because it is not a nightmare or a regular dream. An aqtuqsi something that can paralyze you while you’re sleeping.” — Mary Kunuk
Kunuk’s nightmare paralyses her when she sleeps, and is more sinister than a bad dream. The short blends animation with digital video to create contemporary storytelling.
